In front of a crowd of approximately 600 enthusiastic skilled trades advocates in attendance at the Skills Ontario VIP Breakfast, Premier Doug Ford announced that his government will be adding $955 million to the Skills Development Fund (SDF) over the next three years to help train and reskill Ontario workers for good-paying careers in the skilled trades and to strengthen the province’s economy. This brings the Ford government’s commitment to skills training through the SDF to a total of $2.5 billion.

The new funding includes $100 million already announced in January 2025 plus an additional $705 million for the SDF Training Stream and $150 million in new funding for the SDF Capital Stream.
